MORE AUTUMN SUNSHINE …
… and I love it.
Good news: WORMWOOD is now available for download and streaming. Bad news: there is a flaw on Track 2; a distortion has intruded, and the track must be re-uploaded. (That is why there isn’t a link yet from this site.) I am reliably informed that it will be dealt with very soon.
It is now less than four weeks to the premiere of DBW. (Aside: “fewer than four” is better, but add the word “weeks” and “fewer” sounds wrong. Balancing sound and meaning, and tradition and invention, and inspiration and analysis: a composer’s life.) Coming up to the first performance is a difficult time for the writers, who have precious little control over how the fledgling will be presented to the world. Last week some re-orchestration was needed to help the company out – a lead’s breaking voice, occupational hazard of children’s operas, required a change of key.
The next pieces I am to write are becoming clearer. A further collaboration with someone I have worked with before, a collaboration with a new writer (new to me – he is very experienced) and – following some maintenance and installation of new equipment on my studio by the wonderful Yellow team, a return to the earlier ideas for a new production music set: it is now time to get on with the actual music. Or, of course, it may be something else that I haven’t even heard of yet.
More autumn sunshine, and I love it.
